Skin Tag Removal in Melbourne
LUMBS AND BUMPS
Chroma Dermatology has a fully equipped minor surgery facility where procedures for the removal of skin tags, milia (yellow dots), thick age spots, wart treatment, mole removal and removal of cysts can be treated.
Surgical Services
There are several different ways that skin spots, tags and warts can be removed.
Chroma Dermatology will tailor your treatment to your skin type and the location of the lump or bump and your likely response to treatment. Treatments include deep freezing with liquid nitrogen (cyrotherapy) or use of a radiofrequency device that is safe in pregnant women, children and in those with skin of colour.
Funny looking moles can be shaved off or cut out (excised).
Prior to any shave or excision procedure you will be given a local anaesthetic to numb the area so that the procedure is pain-free!
After the procedure you will be given aftercare and wound care advice and a follow up appointment will be arranged if necessary.
Milia
Milia occur when dead skin becomes trapped in small pockets at the surface of the skin. They appear as white or yellow bumps, most commonly on the eyelids, cheeks, nose, and chin. Milia often appear without explanation but sometimes appear after some kind of injury or trauma to the area. Milia are harmless but can look unsightly.
Every individual is unique, so Chroma Dermatology will tailor your treatment to the size and location of your milia as well as your skin type.
Small milia may be very safely and effectively treated with a radiofrequency device. The treatment itself is a little uncomfortable but easily tolerated. Numbing cream can be used before the procedure to dampen any discomfort. There are minimal after effects, with only a few days of scabbing in the treated areas. Larger milia, may require a simple “cut and express” procedure which heals really quickly!
Skin Tags
A skin tag is a commonly harmless skin growth. It usually looks like small brown or flesh-coloured pieces of hanging skin but really large skin tags can occur too. They most commonly grow around the armpits, neck, under the breasts and eyelids.
The definite cause of skin tags is unknown however they seem to be more common in those who have diabetes and those that carry a little excess weight. They can be irritated by friction (rubbing by clothing or other materials like jewellery). Skin tags are generally painless and do not grow past a certain stage or change in appearance.
The treatment chosen for your skin tags will depend on the size, type and location of the skin tag and your skin type. Liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy) can be used to freeze them off in some people but for some types of tags and in certain skin types, shaving or snipping them off gives better cosmetic results.
